THE
characters of this story are fictitious and the events concoctions.
The ideas, however, had genuinely occurred to me. Some of the ideas
came from the fables, folklores, and poetry I had read in school and
college. Most of them have come from the Gita. Together they suggest
a way that may lead one to peace and happiness. I
was talking about this, one day, to a friend and well-wisher. He observed
that if the ideas could be developed in the form of a dialogue, it
might make interesting reading; and it would be good if the thoughts
could be supported by illustrations. From
this emerged the idea of writing a story - the first in my life. In
building it up, I have taken help of the diverse aspects of human
psychology in practical life that I had occasion to study in the past.
This, my maiden attempt at story writing, I offer to Lord Krishna,
the propounder of the Gita. The
