Preface

THE characters of this story are fictitious and the events concoctions. The ideas, however, had genuinely occurred to me. Some of the ideas came from the fables, folklores, and poetry I had read in school and college. Most of them have come from the Gita. Together they suggest a way that may lead one to peace and happiness.

I was talking about this, one day, to a friend and well-wisher. He observed that if the ideas could be developed in the form of a dialogue, it might make interesting reading; and it would be good if the thoughts could be supported by illustrations.

From this emerged the idea of writing a story - the first in my life. In building it up, I have taken help of the diverse aspects of human psychology in practical life that I had occasion to study in the past. This, my maiden attempt at story writing, I offer to Lord Krishna, the propounder of the Gita.
